One of our favourite festivals is the UK based, BAFTA qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival, where we initially screened in 2020. We returned last year upon invitation, as part of their alumni programme.

Thrilled to now be be invited to screen as part of their new event, A Season of Film.

Festival director, Cherie Federico, reviewed 11 years of previous Aesthetica festivals – over 3,300 films! – and selected our film, The Amazing Adventures of Awesome for this incredible new event.

There are eight individually curated screenings planned. They will give audiences a chance to step away from the ordinary and immerse themselves in the power of narrative through independent film. Themes include the LGBTQ+ experience and the climate crisis, as well as an interrogation of humans and technology, and the best of Black British cinema, alongside a comedy club screening and a slate of BAFTA and Oscar-winning short films.

Here are a few words from the Festival Director Cherie:

“Film is transformative, powerful and resonating. It can change the world in a matter of seconds. BAFTA-Qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival has teamed up with York Theatre Royal to present a Season of Independent Film, which looks at how the big screen helps us to make sense of the past, present and future”.

Screening event title: Animation: Imagination & Discovery

Date: Saturday 30 April

Time: 12:00:00 AM
